1) Icarus Stops For Breakfast has just been accepted into the Director's Circle of Festival Shorts Festival will take place between Friday, November 29 through Saturday, December 7, 2019. It is online so viewing for all and you will be able to vote for your favorite film. ( Cough Cough Icarus)
2) Shouting Down A Quiet Life will Premiere at Rover Dramawerks in Plano, Texas. Opening Night December 5th, 2019. I will be there for opening thanks to Rover Dramawerks.
3) My one-act FOR ABBY had it's London Debut in October 2019 with the Sky Blue Theatre's British Theatre Challenge. Thanks to Sky Blue and John Mitten for championing new plays.
4) So far Icarus Stops For Breakfast, based on the short story Eating, by Rick Bass, has won The Golden Fox Award for Best Women Film at the Calcutta International Cult Film Festival 2019 and Best Fantasy short at the Hollywood Blood Horror Film Festival 2019. And just got into the Yonkers Film Festival and Bali International Film Festival. Onwards and up!
I am a playwright and screenwriter as well as a contributing writer for Verbal Supply Company and Monologues and Madness. I am a guest lecturer with the School of Visual Arts (SVA) in the film department. My flash fiction story, The Russians, as well as my memoir I Grew Up are published in The Dead Mule Southern Literature.
I think art is not only there to entertain, but to open our minds to new ideas and possibilities, and to hold a microscope up to things we thought we understood, and show other sides not considered.
Writer accolades include: Winner of the Terrence G. Hall Fellowship, a Dramatist Guild Fellow, and a EST/Sloan Grant Recipient, 2 time Finalist with Nantucket Playwriting Competition, and finalist with Great Plains Writing Competition. I was commissioned by 365 Women A Year to write a play about science fiction writer, Octavia E. Butler. I have been produced by Estrogenius Festival NYC, Edgemar Center Santa Monica, and City Theatre Miami to name a few.
My play MAKE JOHN PATRICK SHANLEY GO HOME, which was produced by City Theatre’s Summer Shorts Festival, is published in Smith & Krause anthology of Best Ten Minute Plays. My play COUGAR is published in The City Theatre Anthology.
