I Wrote/Co-wrote/ 3 New Films with School of Visual Arts Students, "The Birthday", "Free Car", "The Moonstealer"

"The Birthday" was accepted into Soho Festival International Film Festival.

I took the challenge to write a play in 48 hours. That One-Act "Hello and Good-Bye" was Performed at Ensemble Studio Theater's Membersfest virtual performance, on August 19th, 2021

My short story “Cereal and Fire” won the Southern New Hampshire University’s 2020 Fall Fiction Contest. HERE to read it. I am currently a student at SNHU where I am working on my graduate degree in Creative Writing.

 My short Story  The Fall Down Tree made the short-list for the 2019 Fish Short Story Prize. 73 stories out of 1,468 entries made the short-list. See the list HERE

Shouting  was a huge success at Rover Dramawerks in Plano TX. Read review HERE. So they put it online as part of their best of series. I am a writer of plays, screenplays, short stories, essays and magazine articles, as well as a theatrical reviewer for The Front Row Center.  I am a member of the Dramatist Guild and Ensemble Studio Theatre, AEA, SAG-AFTRA and guest speaker and screenwriter with the School of Visual Arts (SVA)  film department.  My flash fiction story, The Russians, as well as my memoir,   I Grew Up, are published in The Dead Mule School of Southern Literature.  

​

 I believe art is not only  to entertain, but to open our minds to new ideas and possibilities, to hold a microscope up to things we thought we understood, and to show  parts not considered.

​

Writer accolades include: Winner of Fishamble Tiny Play Challenge, Winner of the Terrence G. Hall Fellowship, a Dramatist Guild Fellow, and an EST/Sloan Grant Recipient, 2-time Finalist with Nantucket Playwriting Competition, and finalist with Great Plains Writing Competition.  I was commissioned by 365 Women A Year to write a play about science fiction writer, Octavia E. Butler. I have been produced by Sky Blue Theatre, Rover Dramawerks Plano TX, Estrogenius Festival NYC, Edgemar Center Santa Monica, and City Theatre Miami to name a few. 


My play MAKE JOHN PATRICK SHANLEY GO HOME, which was produced by City Theatre’s Summer Shorts Festival, is published in the Smith & Krause anthology of  Best Ten Minute Plays.  My play COUGAR is published in The City Theatre Anthology.

I live in New York City with my husband, daughter, and pup Arlo Guthrie Marshmallow.
